What Do SEER2, HSPF2, dB Means?

SEER2
(Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2)
SEER2 is a measure of the cooling efficiency of air conditioners and heat pumps over an entire cooling season. It reflects how effectively a system can cool a space under varying weather conditions. The higher the SEER2 rating, the more energy-efficient the unit is, resulting in lower energy consumption and cost savings. SEER2 is an updated version of the original SEER standard, incorporating new testing protocols to ensure better accuracy.
HSPF2
(Heating Seasonal Performance Factor 2)
HSPF2 measures the heating efficiency of heat pumps during a heating season. It shows how effectively a heat pump converts electricity into heat, with higher ratings indicating more efficient operation. A heat pump with a high HSPF2 rating provides better performance while using less energy, reducing heating costs. HSPF2 is the newer version of HSPF, designed with more rigorous testing standards for improved efficiency measurement.
Decibel (dB) A unit of measurement used to indicate the intensity of sound. For HVAC systems like heat pumps and air conditioners, the decibel (dB) rating reflects how much noise the unit will produce during operation. A lower dB rating means quieter performance, which can be an important consideration for homeowners seeking a peaceful indoor and outdoor environment. For example, a typical conversation is around 60 dB, so a unit rated at 51-54 dB will operate more quietly, blending into the background without disturbing daily activities or your home’s tranquility. When comparing products, keep in mind that a difference of just 10 dB represents a sound that is perceived as twice as loud.
