How a Hydronic Heating System Works

Simply put, a hydronic heating system heats water and transfers the water through sealed pipes to create heat for the home. There are two types of hydronic heating systems:

Radiator-based hydronic heating systems

In-floor hydronic heating systems

Although they differ by the delivery of the heat, they are essentially the same. They use electricity or gas to heat the water and then supply it to radiators or in-floor heating, helping you stay warm during those frosty winter days.

A hydronic heating system contains three main components:

A boiler, which is used to heat the water
In-floor piping, or baseboards and radiators, which is installed against an outside wall
A pump, which is used to circulate water through the pipes, to the radiator and back again.

Those components work together to deliver heat precisely where you want it and when you want it. Unlike a tradition furnace, there are no airborne particles, making it a great option for allergy suffers.
